Hey guys! I wanted to briefly share some inspiring quotes and extracts from a speech by Jim Carrey at the Maharishi University of Management 2014 Graduation Ceremony.
My first thought before I watched the speech was that it would be like a comedy show more than anything, however I was blown away by the seriousness and depth of his words. There is of course a little bit of comedy thrown in, after all it is his nature, and we should all be our true selves. Many of his words left a resonating impression with me, provoking thoughts about my mindset on life and my future.
I shall leave you to watch the video and draw your own meaning from it, however I have listed some of the most inspiring extracts below. The video below starts at the 9:50 mark, but please feel free to start it from the beginning.

Some of the Most Inspiring Words from Jim Carrey
These are my favorite extracts from the commencement address, and have been taken verbatim (exactly as originally said).
“I have no limits.”
“You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.”
“The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is.”
“Your need for acceptance can make you invisible in this world. Don’t let anything stand in the way of the light that shines through this form. Risk being seen in all of your glory.”
“It’s just about letting the universe know what you want, and working toward it, while letting go of how it comes to pass. Your job is not to figure out how it’s going to happen for you, but to open the door in your head, that when the door opens in real life, you just walk through it.”
What were your favorite quotes or extracts from the speech?
Everyone will draw meaning from different aspects of Jim Carrey’s words, and that’s great, because the thoughts it provokes are the true benefit of all inspiring speeches.
My take from the speech is that you need to risk pursuing what you love, open up your mind to the possibility of all the things your desire to have or achieve, and do so while leaving a valuable legacy for those who make up your world (no matter the size).
I challenge you to allow yourself to think about the meaning you draw from it… and I mean to really think deep about it. But more importantly, is to actually apply your conclusions. Make changes to your life or mindset if you need to, and be grateful for what you have already achieved.
Let me know your thoughts on the speech in the comments below, I am keen to hear them!
